Encrypted Messenger App

Explore a substantial secure-messaging application I built with React Native, Node.js, Socket.IO and MySQL. The project demonstrates mobile screens, backend APIs, real-time features, subscriptions, administration and a production database design.

Built with first-hand iOS launch experience: my Encrypted Messenger app passed Apple App Review. I also work with StoreKit in-app purchases and Apple Pay integrations where each is appropriate.

Cost-conscious hosting in practice: this Next.js and Magic UI website, the Encrypted Messenger iOS app's Node.js backend, and the local MySQL database can run together on one £6-per-month VPS from a UK provider. A larger server may be needed as traffic, storage, or availability requirements grow.

About Jonathan

Cyber-security focused

High-strength protection for customer information.

CodeKits.shop uses strong, widely accepted cryptography and layered controls appropriate to the information being handled. Security is treated as an ongoing process—not an “unbreakable” marketing claim.

AES-256-GCM protection

Sensitive database fields use authenticated encryption, which protects confidentiality and detects altered ciphertext.

Purpose-separated keys

HKDF derives separate encryption and lookup keys for different record types and fields from a protected master secret.

Pseudonyms and blind indexes

Operational tables use keyed one-way identifiers where possible instead of keeping readable email addresses or personal content.

No card storage

Stripe Checkout handles payment-card information. CodeKits.shop does not store raw card numbers or security codes.

Minimised operational data

Operational records are limited to what is needed to run and protect the service.

Layered safeguards

Parameterized database queries, signed Stripe webhooks, random download tokens, rate limits, consent records and HTTPS work together.

Fulfilment

Checkout, database, and email automation

Stripe Checkout, verified webhooks, MySQL order records, secure download tokens, ZIP delivery, and automatic purchase emails work together as one fulfilment flow.

Stripe checkout

Customers pay with Stripe-hosted checkout for one-time digital product purchases.

MySQL order log

Completed checkout sessions are stored in MySQL so you can track purchases and fulfilment.

Resend SMTP email

The webhook sends branded purchase and secure-download emails from your verified custom domain through Resend SMTP.

Live order flow

Payment completed. Secure ZIP link created.

Custom admin dashboards

Useful admin dashboards and tools, built around the way you work.

I can design and build practical private workspaces that bring projects, customer enquiries, email, files, sales, subscribers, analytics, and day-to-day operations into one clear interface.

Available as a tailored addition to every CodeKits product and service.

Personalised news example: my own private dashboard selects recent React, React Native, Node.js, TypeScript, MySQL, Ubuntu Server and Linux news, highlights what matters to a software-development business, and links back to the official sources. A customer's version can instead follow the industry, regulations, products, competitors or technical subjects relevant to their work.
  • Projects, enquiries, orders, downloads, and audience insights
  • Useful tools tailored to your team, workflow, and application data
  • Inbox, designed email, subscriber, and newsletter workspaces
